gypsy rose

It is the warmest June on record here, after record breaking snowstorms last winter, I'm fine with the heat. I love the layering of winter, but nothing beats a summer dress and fun sandals. I've also made a new commitment regarding my shopping that I'm ready to announce and make myself accountable for. As a long-time vegetarian and animal lover, I have come to grips with my hypocrisy over fashion. I had become a hard-core Balenciaga collector and I love my bags dearly. I'll keep using the ones I have and probably keep them to pass on to my future daughter :) But as of about a month ago, I am no longer purchasing 1st use leather. There are so many ways to get upcycled leather (recycled leather that would be trashed) or vegan products now. Stella McCartney and Matt & Nat make this easier than you would think. Eco-fashion is here to stay and I'm now on the band-wagon. The bag I have in this post is an adorable Matt & Nat santogold shoulder bag in the most lovely pale pink. Any suggestions for other vegan fashion is appreciated :)

Today's list: alice and olivia dress, paul and joe shoes, my friend's grandmother's mesh top, thrifted leopard scarf, tom ford shades, and matt & nat bag

It's my birthday!!!!

I took the week off work, and off blogging, for my birthday. here, finally, is my birthday outfit. I bought this alice and olivia black lace babydoll dress specifically for the occasion, ripped holes in my leopard print tights, wore my vintage (my mom's) white bag I DIY studded and spiked, a headband that is really a rose choker I glued onto a head band, pink chanel lipstick, and steve madden booties. It was a great laid back evening!

antique

I love the antique feel of the lace on this alice and olivia dress. It's cream with woven gold threads, a thin silk lining and sweet little ruffles. I ordered it one size bigger to make sure it hung straight and there were no curves showing so it would appear even more vintage. I'm also wearing my fav. larok vest from a couple days ago--fav. until the next two arrive from shopbop.com anyways. The scarf is banana republic, shoes are stuart weitzman (and btw they could not be more comfortable, since there are so many straps they all hug your foot equally so no pressure or blisters!), shades are prada, and bag is my brand new 09 lilac balenciaga! I'm so excited to have gotten this limited edition shade of purple, it is divine!
