hypercolor part 2

You can see the Hypercolor hair powder from Anastasia Beverly Hills in these photos also. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

Today's list: Modcloth coat, James jeans velvet skinny pants, Rockport boots, Elizabeth and James sunglasses, Balenciaga bag

hypercolor!

I have been dying my hair with Manic Panic semi-permanent hair dyes for about a year now and I love having colored hair. This is no longer a punk kid, haute couture, or fashion blogger trend. Ombre, dip-dyed, and streaked rainbow colored hair is everywhere, from Heidi Klum to Christina Aguilera. For those that don't want to make the commitment to a color that will take over 2 weeks to wash out, there's a new hair powder that I got to try from Anastasia Beverly Hills called Hypercolor. It was really easy to apply (see directions below) and the colors looked great, even brighter than I expected. It comes in 5 colors: pink, purple, blue, turquoise, and green; each sold separately. The hot pink was my favorite and had the best color payoff in my opinion. Make sure  you use gloves and a towel like they suggest otherwise this stuff can get everywhere. I tried it after putting some Josie Maran Argan Hair Oil in my hair and it stuck perfectly. A decent amount of hair spray sealed it on. It washed out completely with one shampoo. I would definitely recommend trying this over the DIY chalk option. Hypercolor Hair and Brow Powder from Anastasia will be available at Ulta Dec. 26th. In my hair, I have the used the Hypercolor In the Pink and Megawatt Green. The purple is the Ultra Violet from Manic Panic I've had in for a month or so. Part II of this post with outfit coming soon.

frankenstorm Sandy

So apparently DelMarVa is going to get slammed with a crazy frankenstorm, as they are calling it, late this weekend. Awesome. If you remember last year, we had our first icky, sleety, snowstorm on Halloween, this year, a hurricane. Since when do we get hurricanes at the end of October, so late in the season that it's going to hit a Nor'easter and just pour all over the east coast. And people refuse to believe in "climate change"...Seriously? Also, it's called global warming; where is Gore when we need him?

Today's list: Splendid maxi dress, Free People plaid crop shirt, Chloe Paraty bag

red lips

Ladies, if you don't have at least one red lipstick that flatters you, get on that. My favorites are from Kat von D's line at Sephora. They are super pigmented and striking, and maybe a little loud compared to something you'd find by Lancome or whatever and definitely cheaper than one from YSL or Dior. My holy grail is Underage Red; it's pinky and cool toned, but there's a bunch in her line that rock.

Today's list: tart leopard maxi skirt, gap drop sleeved hoodie, coconuts boots, aridza bross bag, and kat von d adora lipstick

The case for leggings

The case for leggings: 20 reasons leggings are amazing
1. don't drag and get wet in the rain
2. feel like a bum without looking like one, much more chic than sweats
3. softer and stretchier than jeans
4. can be worn straight to yoga or work out
5. come in s, m, l sizes no trying to guess whether you're still a 27 or have gone up to 28
6. hide unshaven legs!
7. warmer than tights
8. show off sexy legs shape
9. wear them with flats or heels, no need to tailor these babies
10. make great pjs
11. anything 80s is awesome again
12. no one can tell whether you're wearing $10 leggings from target or $200 leggings from NM
13. can be worn all seasons
14. never too bulky to fit in your favorite boots
15. no need for a belt
16. come in every color/print you can think of
17. styles for all ages
18. help suck in and flatten bellies or butts
19. for travel they are easy to roll up and throw in a suitcase
20. the nostalgia of rocking hot pink leggings and giant t-shirts and scrunchies in elementary school

asymmetry

asymmetry |āˈsimitrē|
noun ( pl. asymmetries )
lack of equality or equivalence between parts or aspects of something; lack of symmetry.
I super heart this sweater's strange balance, one side's bottom hem is longer and dolman shaped and the opposite's sleeve is longer but fitted.

Today's list: Splendid maxi dress, Helmut Lang asymmetrical sweater, Toms vegan pewter shoes, Aridza Bross fringe bag, Elizabeth and James sunglasses

fall flowers

It's way too chilly today to wear without a cover, but the best part of this dress is that it's backless! It's been 2 minutes since I could get my boots out for fall and I'm already wishing summer was back :(

Today's list: Karen Zambos floral maxi dress with giant pockets, thrifted vintage snakeskin bag, Limited sweater, Blowfish lace-up wedge booties, Elizabeth and James Bowery sunglasses, Gap headband

must have!

I grew up in the states so I am not really as in touch with my British roots as I'd like. I had heard of Barbour in terms of a luxury company but had no clue what they made or what a waxed coat was til my fellow UK-er friend, Mary, said she wished she had kept hers from her school days in Scotland. Apparently I have needed one of these all along! They are waterproof, windproof, and way more chic than the puffer coats most Americans wear when it gets freezing here. She showed me an adorable one J.Crew is selling this winter with a dainty Liberty print lining... so super cute.

I found these two to be even more my taste... a little bit more rock/biker, and glam at the same time. Top is Barbour Womens International Union Jack Lining Waxed Jacket (could this be any more awesomely British?!!!!) and bottom is Barbour Womens National Trials Black Waxed Jacket. I love how functional they are. I mean, there are so many pockets on both of these you can practically leave the purse at home. Functional is rarely this haute, with gold zippers and snaps and fun linings. Luxury is in the details! Both can be found online at Van Mildert.

Now the question is which one to buy????

NEW Anastasia Holiday Sets!!!!

I was invited to try out the new 70's inspired holiday sets from Anastasia Beverly Hills!!

The Want You to Want Me set includes a deluxe eye shadow palette featuring an array of 70’s rock inspired shades for a beautiful holiday look. The mirrored compact with brush features nine matte and pearlized nude, bronze, and plum shadows, black liquid eye liner, and mini clear brow gel (perfect staples for travel or everyday). These colors are totally wearable for everyone and have day-to-night potential. I particularly love the warm plum called Iron On and lighter mauvey purple called Ziggy. Iron On, used wet, makes a great liner with the lining end of the brush provided. The eyeshadow palette is removable and both pieces have mirrors for easy application. They also have black velvet packaging with gold detail which is so pretty and luxe-looking. Some uber cute looks below. The Want You to Want Me makeup kit retails in the U.S. for $34 with a $90 value (retails in Canada for $44) and is available at Sephora and Anastasia.net.

The Kisses on My List (volume 2) gloss set features six high-shine glosses in matte and shimmer shades that wear all-day. With three softly sheer, opalescent glosses, and three new Hypercolor Glosses that actually stain your lips. Lola, Rozanne, and Jolene left a lovely pink stain behind with Roxanne being the most potent pop of pink with my skin chemistry. I love all the hydrafulls because they are super sticky and long lasting.  Each gloss is named after famous 70’s muses ... Maggie May and Moi are my favs of this set, one is a lighter pinkish nude and one is slightly darker pinkish nude. Both are so natural looking and go great with a more dramatic plum eye from the Want You to Want me palette. They kind of remind me of Lorac's liquid lipstick but more moisturizing. This set is such a good deal for 6 full size shades... The Kisses on My List gloss set retails in the U.S. for $30 with a $108 value (retails in Canada for $39) and is available at Sephora and Anastasia.net.
