For the love of belts!

Yeah, so, I tried on both belts this morning and neither made me happy, so I wore both. Problem solved. One is thrifted and made of the oldest, sturdiest leather ever. The other is from an estate sale with a rustic-looking buckle. The frizzy hair is courtesy the drizzling rain today.

Today's list: Casual Couture cowl-neck maxi dress, thrifted BR woven cardigan, 2 random belts, Fiorentini + Baker boots, 02 caramel flat brass first Balenciaga bag

boogie man

This is my favorite hat and I have a few... a cloche, a few fedoras, a pageboy, a bunch of scrunchy crochet ones but this one gets all the comments. Usually of middle-aged or older generations, both men and women will comment on it. They don't see fedoras as a Justin Timberlake-esque fashion statement as a lot of our generation does. I think they appreciate it as a functional classic piece. Also it totally makes my day when I get complimented by a 70-something on my taste :)

Today's list: thrifted pleated polka-dot pants, Gap shoes and knit blazer, BR b&w tweed fedora, and Balenciaga bag

On an unrelated note but sort of fitting for such a dreary day... my current fav song Boogie Man by Grieves

white picket fences

I was too lazy to scope out some of our better photo spots, so this made for a pretty-enough backdrop. The idea of the perfect American home with the white picket fence doesn't resonate with me at all. I think I would rather have an old row home with a wrought iron gate and winding ivy. Maybe a condo with a glass balcony and a view. I suppose I have plenty of time to decide.

Today's list: thrifted skirt, bb dakota short-sleeve hooded trench-thing, loft headband, BR shoes

Madmen on acid

I am completely obsessed with Madmen and especially the costume and set design. What I wouldn't give to look like Joan or Betty... Here is my updated version: vintage shaped dress with collar and big fat belt to pull it in, classic cardigan and wedge heels, and big round shades... all with a high dose of neon.

Today's list: thrifted dress that still had the tags on (I saved like $250), gap shoes and cardi, prada sunnies, and vintage belt (my mom's from the 70's)

punktastic

I recently bought a couple sally henson nail art pens, then went back and bought a couple more. They are so much fun! These horrible pics are of an Indian inspired design and a nail corset design I did recently. Maybe because of the daily nail, but I am recently much more interested in playing with nail polishes. Did you hear that American Apparel just added 12 new colors! I want them all! Especially Hunter and Manilla. They are 3 free like Butter London but half the price. Too bad you can't mix and match the 7-packs. Every one of them have at least one color I don't want.

Today's list: Ben Sherman pants, thrift store sweater, steve madden shoes, banana republic chain top, scarf bought in a tibetan store in Denver, ysl bag, and prada glasses.
Which reminds me, they help me to see my computer but at the end of the day I get a headache. Is there an adjustment period when you first wear glasses after your eyes have been straining or do I have the wrong rx...

a man's world

I bought this coat from the womens section of my thrift store a while back. It was missing some buttons but with some careful button rearranging of the ones that were left, it looks fine now. I love the tons of pockets and epaulettes and herringbone weave on it. It also has a drawstring at the waist to create a more cinched look. I didn't really think about the name tag but I looked at it again and realized it's by Shades of Greige. Funny because it's a trendy menswear company (maybe that's why I was attracted to it!). I love menswear stuff for its utilitarian look. Maybe that's why my new glasses are also technically Prada men's too. They are bigger and boxier than all the womens I found. My boyfriend was also wearing a great thrifted herringbone jacket...which I might have to borrow.

Today's list: thrifted shades of griege coat, theory harem pants, alternative apparel tank, frye boots, balenciaga sunglasses, balenciaga 02 caramel flat brass first

the modern suit

I wish I could wear this everyday. Literally. These soft harem pants are wonderful, and with an even softer gray top, it's like wearing pajamas.

Today's list: theory pants, old navy top, thrifted blazer, ysl bag, steve madden boots, balenciaga shades, and world market wooden necklace

Watermelon in November

I had an idea of what I was going to wear today. Then changed my mind and the first skirt I found was this thrifted vintage one I've been dying to wear. The color is so bright it seemed fitting for a very chilly gray day.

Today's list: Limited sweater, thrifted skirt, anne klein socks, nine west shoes, balenciaga bag (are you starting to notice I have an addiction?), chloe shades

Classic

I was in a vintage mood, so today I'm dressed kind of classic 7o's. I feel a little like Mary Tyler Moore :) Unfortunately the sun only stuck around for a couple photos.

Today's list: vintage 70's blouse (ebay), banana republic skirt, spanx tights, corso como shoes, balenciaga bag, chloe shades, thrifted scarf, banana republic trench
